Hope Whispers contributor Molly Tienda reminds us not to take things for granted in this excerpt of  her  touching poem, “A Lesson I Learned Today.”

  "He now walks the streets in search of food and a place to rest

Every day is a mission to survive and to find food is his quest

Every day I would pass him and give him no thought

But today was quite different, my attention he had caught

I looked at this ragged man thinking about what he had lost"

Molly was moved by a homeless man who roamed the streets of her hometown of Grand Prairie, Texas.  “I'm sorry to say that I haven't seen him for a few years now,” she said. “I wish I could tell him that he inspired me to write this beautiful poem and that I still remember him even if his family, friends and society don’t,” she continued.  “I think of him every time I read this poem.  I hope Jesus has a seat with his name on it near his throne.”
